23. Portrait of Mrs. Larz Anderson

2025 installation - Dining Room

The Inspiration

This formal portrait of Mrs. Larz Anderson, Isabel Anderson, was finished in 1901. Painted by American artist Cecilia Beaux, the portrait depicts Isabel wearing an evening gown designed by Worth of Paris and an Indian emerald brooch.

The Flowers

Florist’s inspiration: Inspired by the painting’s romantic and sophisticated aesthetic, this floral creation is a delicate, airy display that echoes the soft tones and flowing silhouette of the dress, which are portrayed in contrast with darker hues in this opulent setting. Her poised stance, gentle expression, and the soft lighting create a sense of grace and sophistication. Deep emerald greens give a subtle nod to the exquisite jewelry, while delicate blush and moody mauve hues mimic the painting’s ethereal tone.

Recipe: Greenery, roses, garden roses, ranunculus
