21. Japanese Buddha Statuette
Keith Stanley, EMC, IMF Sculptural Botanical Design
2025 installation - Olmsted Gallery
The Inspiration
This small gilt wood sculpture depicts Buddha seated on a lotus blossom with a pierced brass collar and gilded halo behind his head.
The Flowers
Florist’s inspiration: The Buddha’s contemplative presence is complemented by carefully positioned blooms that appear to float and cascade in mid-air, creating visual tension and harmony. The arrangement juxtaposes Eastern philosophical tranquility with Western contemporary design methodology, resulting in a meditation on balance that invites viewers to experience both spiritual calm and artistic innovation in a single harmonious composition.
Recipe: Vanda orchids, Nerine lilies, Tweedia, assorted foliage
