The Flowers

Florist’s inspiration: An ode to spring—a reflection of season and place honoring our local and American grown flower farmers. This was an important focus to highlight and celebrate as the designer is a domestic farm advocate and owns a farm-direct American Grown wholesale company.

Recipe: Seasonal and local flowers and foliage from Maryland, Virginia, Florida, and California flower farmers

Kelly Shore is the owner and lead designer of Petals by the Shore. Her favorite part of the design process: that breathtaking moment when clients’ visions go from daydreams to reality. The look in their eyes. The smile on their faces. That little gasp.  It may sound strange to start at the end of the design process but creating these moments is what drives Kelly and her creativity.

Flowers fill Kelly’s soul with happiness because of the sweet smiles, soft tears, and laughter they bring to others for life’s biggest celebrations.

Her entire life, Kelly has gravitated towards anything creative. It gives her joy to be able to take something that never existed and bring it to reality.  In 2000, her floral journey began in a small campus flower shop at the University of Illinois.  What began as a curiosity to know more about floral design quickly became a passion that Kelly didn't know would become her future.  She went on to receive a Bachelor of Arts in Advertising and from there a Masters in Elementary Education.  In between studying for those degrees, Kelly designed small weddings for close friends and family. After several years, shecouldn’t hold back her passion for floral design and Petals by the Shore was born in 2011.

Kelly is so proud that after 9 years in business, she’s developed many amazing relationships throughout the Washington, DC area and across the country.  Not only with clients but with venues, caterers, planners, and photographers.  Kelly’s client know that she listens to their needs and works tirelessly to create unique one-of-a-kind experiences. She’s a stickler for details and the use of high quality American Grown flowers & foliage.

Petals by the Shore has been featured in national and local magazines and blogs such as Martha Stewart Weddings, Florists’ Review, Washingtonian Bride and Groom, Style Me Pretty, Weddings Unveiled, Cottage Hill, Ruffled, Once Wed and United with Love among many others.

Kelly is proud to be a supporter of America’s flower farmers and seek to support them and their growth & sustainability in the American agriculture industry in all she does.  She always strives to get the majority, if not all, of products from locally grown and American grown flower farms. Not only is sheproviding support to farms and their communities, but she’s also providing clients with the freshest, longest lasting and unique blooms. And since she gravitates toward lush, highly textured designs with diverse mixtures of blossoms and foliage, for her, it’s the only way to go.

Weddings and special events are canvases to create beauty and to cement lasting memories. Kelly looks forward to working with you soon and creating an event you will never forget and one that your friends and family will be talking about for years!

Rudney Novaes brings a powerful — or, as some might say — persuasive approach to photography. His imagery articulates the delicacies of love and luxury. Planners praise his unique ability to style and capture details while creating a space that evokes true emotions. It's an unparalleled match, a photographic finesse, you could say, that brings a new perspective to the wedding industry. This philosophy is led entirely by Rudney's standpoint that his work is not limited to mere photographs but, rather, is a matter of expressing what it means to be alive and to do so with grace and innovation.

As a multicultural LGBTQ+ wedding photographer, Rudney strives to be intentional and inclusive in his work. He believes in paving an artistic path that showcases and shifts how the world, and we as individuals, view race, gender, and sexuality. Rudney's dedication to these principles has earned him a reputation as a photographer who captures beautiful moments and helps promote a more inclusive and accepting world.
