2025 installation - Choir Stall Room

The Inspiration

The carved walnut choir stalls, made in the seventeenth century, were removed from a church in Naples, Italy, and installed in this room to impress the Andersons’ guests rather than to use for seating.

The Flowers

Florist’s inspiration: We were inspired in learning about the intentionality of design in the room as a conversation starter. As guests waited to enter further into the home they could enjoy the intricate beauty of the choir stalls, and discuss the paintings above that reference the family’s achievements and hobbies. With this intentionality in mind we created two pieces, taking select colors from the space, that mimic and reference each other as if having a conversation.

Recipe: Tulips, branches and other spring treasures

THE DESIGNERS

Skye Robbins & Barbara Wolfe
Wanton Poppies

“Addicted to flowers, hopeless romantics, and bespoke floral artisans” describes Wanton Poppies. They met at a farmers market and a “budding” friendship grew into a larger idea and tada! The Wanton Poppies was born.

Having each been in the floral and events industry for almost a decade, they’ve had the opportunity to work for the best of the best and bring many skillsets and years of experience when curating and creating their own weddings.

They love getting to know their couples, and their love stories. YOU are inspiring and they believe your florals should be too. Both classically trained in the arts, Skye and Barbara find their ultimate inspiration in the colors, forms, and textures found in nature, and pride themselves on using unique materials to give life to their designs.

They source materials from local farmers, personal gardens and responsible foraging. They believe those are of the best quality and character and help to lower our impact on the environment. Flowers have a power to communicate things that words can’t quite describe. Countless shrieks, giggles, hugs, and exclamations of “there are no words” are the reason they do what they do.

PHOTOGRAPHED BY

Akbar Sayed Photography

Between his studies and his caring for patients as a nursing student at the University of Maryland, Baltimore, Akbar Sayed sought a creative outlet to capture the beauty that he saw in life at all stages.

He purchased his first camera and photographed whatever and whoever was in front of him, but emotions inspired him most of all (an empath through and through). After months of sharing his work for the pure enjoyment of it, Akbar was asked to capture a wedding. The artistry was innate — his work was published in Baltimore Style magazine, despite it being his very first wedding.

In 2011, Akbar met his wife who, from the beginning, believed in his natural artistic vision. She continues to be the source of much creative and practical inspiration, often encouraging him to be present and laughing at his dad jokes.
