Summer Blooms

- SECOND FLOOR ENGLISH DRAWING ROOM, LADY COCKBURN AND THREE CHILDREN, ATTRIBUTED TO JOSHUA REYNOLDS, CA. 1773

Photographed by Sarandon Smith Photography

Florist’s inspiration: In the words of my own mother, “A mama is everything to everybody!” This two-tiered arrangement is symbolic of the constant balancing act mothers and parents everyday play. Parents, especially mothers, wear many hats and juggle even more responsibilities. The colorful and whimsical style of the roses and ranunculus show the playful fun attitudes a guardian displays with her children while the hardy greens and lush vines represent a mother's ability to organize the constant craziness of childhood and protect the weakest in their households.

Recipe: Garden roses, ranunculus Alabama smi- lax, hydrangea, seasonal blooms.
