Inspired by the ancient varied concepts of Neptune as the seaborne marriage of heaven and earth through celestial powers, we've melded components that honor the water meeting the earth - the space in which Neptune would have left his battle victorious. Dried and fresh botanics include sea thistle, sea star fern, and the wild bridges of botanics that flourish on the edge of the sea - drawing power from the mysterious in-between-place that the sea god may have found respite.

Neptune’s Fountain
This 1899 bronze fountain statue, titled Young Neptune Fighting the Monsters of the Deep, depicts young Neptune fighting sea monsters with a spear and fishing line. He stands atop of waves and reefs containing mermaids, an octopus, and other fish. Sculpted by Italian artist Adolfo Apolloni and cast in Rome, it sits on a circular alabaster basin on top of a marble pedestal—both Italian antiques. During the Andersons’ time, the babbling water in this fountain would have completed the conservatory feel of the glass-walled room, featuring large potted palms and ferns.
