Goodness Gracious Florals - SECOND FLOOR OLMSTED GALLERY, LARZ ANDERSON’S DIPLOMATIC TAILCOAT, MADE BY DAVIES & SON OF LONDON, ENGLAND, 1911

Florist’s inspiration: “Le Bon Vivant with Moxie!” This waistcoat has witnessed much in both this gilded cage and in its gilded age. At times, full regalia and courage were required to promote the interests of the United States. At other times, the personality was the diplo- matic mollifier. The florals balance these dif- ferent forces and approaches to Larz Anderson's diplomatic style. They represent the legacy of a graceful and formidable pres- ence, able to navigate a complex dichotomy of interests with many nations.

Recipe: Agapanthus, brunia, curly willow, del- phinium, dusty miller, lisianthus, lysimachia, ruscus.
