Born in Washington, DC and spending years between Philadelphia and the District, Kehmari Norman has amassed an impressive career in community organizing and urban agriculture prior to founding BLK FLWR MRKT, a floral studio based in her hometown. BLK FLWR MRKT creates products and experiences with flowers that bridges the gap between people's culture and floriculture. This model reflects her passion and work in the world of horticulture, founding city-wide events like the Black Growers Month Conference, and hosting original flower workshops like Smudge Stick Labs.
Kehmari received her B.A. at Temple University in Theater Set Design and African American Studies and transferred those skills initially as a landscape designer, transforming a vacant lot in a food insecure neighborhood in North Philadelphia, into a community garden, and now floristry.
