David has been in the floral industry for over 37 years. During that time, he designed, managed, and owned his own flower shop. He also served as a freelance designer in multiple flower shops.
David has continually worked on improving his floral design ability and his knowledge of the principles and elements of floral design. David has been a member of the American Institute of Floral Designers for over 25 years and has built a great understanding of the importance of education in our industry. He has also served on the Board of the Southern Region of AIFD and has held every position up to and including Regional President.
During David’s career, he has presented design programs at numerous wholesale florists all over the country, teaching designers how to work smarter, not harder. He has also been a regular presenter for The National Garden Club and many of their chapters. David also teachers floral design and care and handling at Anne Arundel Community College in Maryland. He also was on the design team for the Oscars for 3 years.
David was also a deisgner in 2013 for the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation with President Obama in Hawaii. He has a wide spectrum of experience, including designing flowers for the Tournament of Roses parade floats designing for Fiesta Parade Floats for 6 years. He has worked closely with Teleflora on occasional photo sohots and has designed florals for the annual unit president’s meeting for 9 years.
David is now working for Potomac Floral Wholesale in Silver Spring MD. He has been there for over 11 years and loves the pressure of getting flowers shipped in from all over the world for his customers. He still constantly attends local and national floral events to keep up with floral trends and design styles.
