Atelier Ashley Flowers
- SECOND FLOOR ENGLISH DRAWING ROOM, PORTRAIT OF ISABEL ANDERSON WITH A MACAW, BY DEWITT LOCKMAN, CA. 1920 (ON LOAN FROM THE NEW HAMPSHIRE HISTORICAL SOCIETY)
Photographed by Lissa Ryan Photography
Florist’s inspiration: The painting, Portrait of Isabel Ander- son, is both beautiful and intriguing to behold. While not overly confrontational, Isabel stares out at us as if to ask, “Do you like what you see, and have you met my parrot, Anna?” Similarly this floral composition does the same. It is beautiful for the sake of creating pleasure, and yet the airiness of its dancing blooms also invites the viewer to wonder what lies beneath the surface.
Recipe: Anemone, orchids, rosemary, mint, lavender, lissianthus, clematis, dianthus, jasmine, camellia foliage.
